Three years ago we were new to Cedar Rapids and in the market for a new home for our growing family. We looked at well over 30 houses before walking through a nearly done spec house by JW Home Builders. The quality of craftsmanship was far above the others we had looked at in our price range. We decided on the spot to put in an offer for our new home. The Wrights were very helpful in working though the final details of construction and everything was complete on time for closing. After several months there were one or two minor cosmetic issues that are common in new construction and the Wrights promptly corrected them. The overall experience was so positive that it was an easy decision to contract with them to finish the basement.
The construction process can be stressful and scary, but ours was quite smooth with JW Homebuilders managing everything. We even came in on time and on budget!
In early 2010, we found JW Home Builders by visiting one of their homes while it was still under construction. We were impressed by the quality of workmanship and attention to detail. Then we visited another JW home that was still in the construction phase and decided to purchase the home. We were able to select many of the finishes and fixtures that hadn’t yet been completed and Justin was extremely flexible with additional modifications we requested. In our purchase agreement, we had agreed on a date of completion/possession, however, we found ourselves in a bind when our current home sold in just four days and the buyers wanted a 30 day possession – this was a couple weeks before our new home was scheduled to be finished. However, Justin and his team put in extra time and effort to ensure that our home was finished in time for us to have a smooth transition of moving out of our current home and in to our new home without having to make other temporary living arrangements.
We were very pleased with our home and shortly after moving in we decided to begin finishing the lower level ourselves and began to get bids from various sub-contractors. Overwhelmed with the entire process and the amount of time it would fake, we asked Justin for a bid to complete the lower level project. His bid was thorough, cost conscious, timely and detailed. He agreed to complete our lower level in just 45 days, gave us a detailed calendar with what work would be completed each day and true to his word, the lower level was done in 45 days. During this time I was off work due to the birth of our third child and Justin, Sara, their team and all of the sub-contractors were always very respectful, professional and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each work day.
We are very pleased with the outcome of our home. The personal courtesies and responsiveness to our needs and wishes were appreciated and made the entire process enjoyable. It is nice to do business with a home builder who does what he says without constant monitoring and follow up. JW Home Builders is a builder with the utmost integrity and honesty and will provide you with a home you can be proud of, as they did for us.
In March of 2010, I purchased a home from Justin Wright which I closed on June 30, 2010. I picked out the lot and house plan after looking at one house he had built and sold. Justin built the house from ground up for me and customized it as we went along. The tricky part was I was still living in California and had little opportunity to see the build, so I communicated on my Blackberry. Between March and June 2010, I saw the house only twice while being built. I requested several upgrades along the way (some new to Justin) and Justin met all of my requests. This is my 6th house, in which I have built 4 prior. The quality, craftsmanship, and ease in getting things accomplished during this home build were the best experiences for me out of all the prior home builds.
I love my house and have had a good first year living in it, with only a few challenges, which Justin took care of right away. I have high standards and feel I have a quality built home to enjoy. I was also pleased to have some positive surprises (mud room bench, exterior garage door opener) along the way when I found out certain things were included that I didn’t know about. The house was ready for closure on time. I hired a home inspector who gave approval of the house, too, which gave me the expert guarantee of a quality build from a third party.
